There are a lot of reasons to have a climbing wall. Sure, it's great to climb whenever you want, but there is more to it. The body cannot climb every day without over-training. I've found that setting routes is a way to stay psyched on rest days.

So, what is "routesetting" anyway? By carefully mapping out the moves and bolting the holds onto the wall at the proper angles and distances, the climb can be tailored to your physical size and desired level of difficulty. When the climb is done, move a couple holds and it's new again!

There are many companies that manufacture holds, some better than others, and they come in a seemingly endless assortment of sizes, shapes and colors. The wall itself is mostly 2x4's and plywood with the biggest trick being the measurement of your space and designing a wall that maximizes its climbing potential.
